Bajaj CT100 vs Bajaj Boxer β€” Which Parts Are Interchangeable?

Many mechanics assume CT100 and Boxer parts are interchangeable because both are Bajaj 4-stroke single-cylinder bikes. Some are β€” most are not. This guide is specific about what swaps and what causes damage if forced.

Why This Question Comes Up Constantly

The Bajaj CT100 and Bajaj Boxer are both Bajaj 4-stroke, single-cylinder, air-cooled motorcycles popular across Africa. They look similar in basic configuration, they use the same general engine architecture, and Bajaj has used shared platforms across its product range for decades. This creates a reasonable assumption β€” especially among mechanics who see the parts in person β€” that many components cross over.

The reality is more nuanced. Some parts are shared or dimensionally compatible. Many are not, and forcing incompatible parts causes accelerated wear or outright mechanical failure. As an importer, stocking the wrong parts for the wrong model costs you customer trust and generates returns. This guide covers what is known about compatibility β€” but always verify with your supplier using the exact model year, as Bajaj has updated both models over their production lives and compatibility can vary by generation.

Engine Internals β€” Generally NOT Interchangeable

The CT100 and Boxer use engines of different displacement and different bore dimensions. The CT100 is a 99.27cc engine; the Boxer BM150 is a 150cc engine. Different bore, different stroke, different piston dimensions.

What this means: - Pistons, piston rings, and cylinder sleeves are not interchangeable - Cylinder head dimensions differ β€” valves, valve springs, and head gaskets are not interchangeable - Crankshaft and connecting rod dimensions differ β€” not interchangeable - Cam profiles differ between the two engines β€” camshafts are not interchangeable

Attempting to fit a CT100 piston in a Boxer cylinder (or vice versa) will result in either the piston not seating correctly or catastrophic failure on startup. Do not do this, and do not let a customer do this under the assumption that "they are both Bajaj."

What May Be Compatible (Verify Before Assuming)

Some external and generic components may be dimensionally similar across the CT100 and Boxer ranges β€” but this varies by model year and variant. Always confirm with your supplier before stocking as a cross-compatible part.

Potentially compatible across some variants: - Some bearing types (standard ball bearings with the same dimensions appear in both engines in some configurations) - Fuel tap / petcock β€” some variants use similar petcock body dimensions - Chain pitch β€” both models have historically used #428 chain pitch, though sprocket tooth counts differ - Some electrical connectors and wiring harness standards (Bajaj uses shared connector types across many models) - Tyre sizes β€” CT100 and some Boxer variants have used 2.75-18 rear tyre fitment

What is clearly not compatible: - Sprocket tooth counts (gearing differs) - Brake drum dimensions - Wheel rim sizes (Boxer typically uses wider rims) - Body panels and frame-mounted components

The right approach: Stock CT100 parts as CT100 parts and Boxer parts as Boxer parts, separately labelled, separately priced. Compatibility claims without verification are a liability.

What This Means for Importers

For importers supplying mechanics across Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, or any African market with a large Bajaj fleet: maintain separate stock for CT100 and Boxer, and train whoever sells parts to ask the mechanic which model they are working on before selling engine internals.

The CT100 is popular in peri-urban and rural markets where fuel economy is the primary concern. The Boxer is popular in commercial delivery and semi-urban environments. These are different customer segments, and stocking both correctly is the difference between being a reliable supplier and one that generates part returns and complaints.

CrestMAX can supply both CT100 and Boxer parts β€” contact us specifying the model, displacement, and part name. We can also supply a combined container with a mix of both model parts at proportions you specify based on your customer base.
